Service, meetings, and fun

This week seemed to fly by! We had back to back exchanges and then
zone conference right after, so we were constantly on the go, but it
was nice. Exchanges help pick up the pace when you are in a slower
area.
Zone Conference was legit. I left feeling spiritually fed, and
motivated to be a better missionary. There are so many things I can do
better, but all I need to do is take it one day at a time. The
training was on how we can better use the pamphlets to teach, and at
the end they announced to everyone that the church has made two new
pamphlets to help us teach about temples and serving in the church.
Everyone was rightfully pumped about them, and president thought it
would be a good idea to have to zone leaders and STLs role play in
front of everyone to introduce how they can be used. Well, the cat's
out of the bag: I HATE ROLE PLAYS! And then, I was expected to do one
in front of everyone and hope I didn't make a fool of myself?!? Yeah,
I was nervous about it, but the good thing is we had about a week to
prepare so it went well. The pamphlets really are cool and will help
us be able to explain things much more simply.
We volunteer at a Historical Society each week, and when Sister
Wadsworth was with me she spotted their pump organ. She asked if she
could play it and it was so cool! You have to push these pedals with
your feet to get the sound to work, so basically you play with your
hands and gain the electricity through your feet. It was funny to
watch, but really cool at the same time. State College was once again
amazing. It was nice getting a little break from the usual Central
Pennsylvania, and to ride busses. It's great.
We also had the monthly food pantry this week. There are some other
members of the branch who go and help out, and while we were there we
saw Brother R pass out temple invitations to all of the other
volunteers. It was cool to see that the members here are getting
excited about the open house, and that they are doing their best to
invite all that they can.
Something really cool happened yesterday. The B's, a senior
couple who used to be missionaries here, came to visit the branch. I
recognized the name because of some former investigators we met about
a month ago talked so highly of them. As I introduced myself I
mentioned how we went and saw the S family, and that they really
loved them. I didn't think much about it until Relief Society. Sister
Bushman told a story about how for the past five years they have
continued to pray for two specific people that they met on their
mission. At first she prayed that they would accept the gospel, but
more recently she has prayed that the missionaries would be able to
find them. Well, low and behold, the people she was praying for was
the S! We were lead to them by the hand of God! That was a
really cool thing for me to be a part of. I believed that we are where
God needs us to be each day, but now I know for a fact that we are.
We had an awesome lesson with J this past week. We were able to
meet his girlfriend, S, and although she wasn't interested in
sitting with us, she was very friendly. We taught the Restoration
again, and focused on how the priesthood has been restored, and we can
know this through the Book of Mormon. We asked him if when he came to
know it was true if he would be a baptized and he said yes! He's got a
Lon long way to go, but he's already made such progress. After we
testified of how study of the Book of Mormon would help him he threw
down this awesome testimony of it. He explained how he hasn't put as
much effort into reading it as he should have, but he is ready to work
harder because it really is the word of God. Honestly, his testimony
of it was better than some of the members here. It was great!
