One Month Down!

It's crazy to think that I have already been out for a month. I feel

like every day is so long, yet at the same time the past month has
flown by. Lots has happened this past week and I have a story that
will probably make you pee your pants just like I did...

Monday we went to our wards Labor Day picnic. We met lots of people,
ate good food, and played softball. It was nice and warm outside and
it was so much fun to be around other fun people and just relax a
little. Unfortunately, he warm weather didn't really stick because for
the second half of the week it has been either raining or cold. I
really am not ready for winter, so I'm hoping that the bad weather
will pass and the sun will come out again! the Ward is really generous
to the missionaries. We have a dinner appointment almost every night
and on Sunday's some of the people in the Ward bring us groceries. I
am still in awe that they do this for us, and always am so grateful to
them.

I have two tracting success stories this week. We met a lady named
C a few weeks ago and we were able to come back and teach her a
second lesson this past week. She said that she feels so good in her
home after we come, and that it makes her week so much better. We now
have a regularly scheduled appointment to meet every Saturday morning
with her. I hope she continues to see the light we bring into her
life! The other person is a man named B. We met him and gave him a
mini lesson about the Book of Mormon based on the pictures at the
beginning of the book on his doorstep and he asked us to come back and
teach him more. When we went back he had so many great questions. He
even read the Book of Mormon every night before bed and looked at our
church's website to try and get answers that he had. He is pretty
solid and said that he likes how we sparked a desire to try and get
closer to God like he once was. The best part is that he asked if we
could come back and teach him more before we got the chance to invite
ourselves back! Between these two people I have seen the power of
tracting and just talking to everyone we come in contact with.

We had dinner with the T's this week, and the mom served her
mission partially in Murrieta and Temecula! She is so nice and reminds
me a lot of Tiff Ashcraft. It was so fun to be at her house and feel
comfortable.

The bad news of the week is that I found a mouse in the basement on
Wednesday night. The next day we went immediately got mouse traps at
the store, but unfortunately there is no dead mouse yet. It's killing
me knowing that it's somewhere in the basement and it won't die
already!

Ok, so now for the funniest story that you have ever heard. It pretty
much sums up my life and the weird things that happen to me. So
Saturday we officially my one month mark and it ended with bang.
WARNING, GO TO THE BATHROOM BEOFRE YOU READ THE REST! We had anger
appointment with R and L that night. We got to their house
about a half hour early from our last appointment, and since they live
in a dangerous area and it was dark we decided to do our training in
the car till our appointment time came. We were sitting there and we
all expressed how we had to pee but didn't trust Ron and Laurie's
bathroom enough to ask to use it. Fast forward to is on their
doorstep. Sister Malo had just knocked on the door and Sister Durfee
said something funny which all caused us to snicker which was a little
painful since we all had to use the bathroom. All of the sudden Sister
Durfee let out two kinda manly farts on accident which caused us to
bust up laughing. All the sudden the very urgent need to get to a
bathroom hit me, but I knew that if I moved I would pee my pants. Well
moving or not moving didn't make much of a difference because the next
thing I know pee is coming out of my body. I tried to make it stop
before it was out of hand, but there was nothing holding my bladder
back and so through my laughter started saying how I was peeing my
pants. I was trying to do a weird squat thin so my dress wouldn't get
wet while the pee kept flowing, but no matter what I did there came a
point where the pee just kept coming. I swear I have next peed so much
in my life. All while this is happening, Sister Malo is standing
watching me pee my self laughing and Sister Durfee trying to hold back
her pee. Unfortunately Sister Durfee had the same luck as me and she
started to pee her pants. So picture that, three sister missionaries
on a sketchy porch at night laughing while two were peeing. We
obviously couldn't go into the lesson wet with urine so we run /
scamper down the stairs to the sidewalk when R opens his door.
Sister Malo and I were sorta far away by then, so Sister Durfee had to
go back and apologize and tell him that we had to reschedule. He asked
why I told him that I was sick and needed to go home. I felt bad for
lying, but what was I going to say? "Sorry we just turned your front
porch into a puddle of our pee and need to change our clothes!" Heck
no was I about to say that! Anyways, the rest of the night we couldn't
really focus because we spent the rest of the night dying of laughter
from the thing that would happened to me.

Hopefully that story made your Monday a little better. Pray for me as
I try to re-potty train my body this next week haha

Me, Sister Malo and Durfee

There are huge hill and stairs everywhere! I personally like them but my companions hate to walk so it's an adventure.

There are beer drive thrus here. I feel like it totally goes against the whole no drinking and driving law, but at the same time they are kinda funny.

With S, one of the less actives at the picnic

Proof that I did pee myself :) :)

Walking to church

Ok, so I forgot to add one more story. So sister Durfee is an awful driver and that is partially what makes me so sick. Well this week was take. To a whole new level. We almost got into three accidents from her almost hitting a pedestrian, almost running a red light on a busy street, and cutting cars off while switching lanes. Everything something like this happens I scream stop! And Sister Malo just sits int he back laughing watching everything unfold. I think part of the reason we pray before we go anywhere is so that we are safe while driving and so I don't die.

The week with the gimpy foot.

First off, let me start by saying that the BYU game was the talk of half the members at church yesterday (a lady practically bore her testimony about the hail marry) and it was KIlLING me to not have been able to watch it! I think missing BYU sports is going to be one of the greatest sacrifices for me since I am completely out of the loop now. Elder Gates in my district is a total BYU fan like me, so it is nice that I can talk to someone about it without them getting annoyed, even if it is for only a half hour a week.

This week was a lot better for me than last week. It was hard for me to transition to the mission field, and even though I still have no idea what I am doing 75 percent of the time, I have gotten down the schedule and routine aspect which is huge for me.

Monday we went and played volleyball with a bunch of missionaries. Well, following in Kelly's footsteps I landed funny and needed up with a sprained ankle. I didn't want to seem like a pansy or some wimpy girl so I kept playing as good as I could. It hurt for the rest of the night, but the next day we had planned on doing a lot of tracting so I prayed so hard that night that my foot wouldn't stop me from doing missionary work. I woke up the next morning and I still had the biggest cankle you had ever seen (I can't even put in tennis shoes) with nasty bruises on either side, but it didn't hurt too bad to put pressure on. It was seriously a miracle because the swelling hasn't gone down at all since then, but I have been able to walk around and do everything asked of me so far. My companions made me call Sister Johnson, mission president's wife, to let her know that it was still swollen and she said it could take a couple weeks for the swelling to go down. Hopefully it will get 100 percent better soon!

We don't really have anyone to teach right now so this past week we have been driving to a neighborhood where a less active member or a potential investigator lives. We try to contact them and visit with them, but most of the time no one answers the door. We then walk around and do some old fashioned tracting where we go door to door trying to get any form of life to talk to us. It kinda sucks knowing someone is on the other side of the door but pretends they aren't home, but I figure that we will be blessed for going out and trying to meet people. It also fills in our schedule because we always have huge gaps of time in our schedule that we need to fill.

We had a few cool experiences from this week though. We knocked on a door and met a man named K. We started talking about the Book of Mormon and he said he already had a copy and that he would read it and then we could come back and discuss it with him. Hopefully that works out! We also met a man named B who said that he moved away from God as he advanced in his career and focused more on material things. He asked if we could meet with him next week and I am really happy about that.

Thursday we had exchanges and Sister Johnson came and Sister Malo left. We went tracting in this one area and met a ton of people. It was nice to have Sister Johnson there with us because she is a great missionary who knows what she is doing. Sister Durfee is trying, but she is a little timid and still pretty new, so it was nice to have a more experienced missionary that I could learn a lot from. We met a lady named C and we already went back to teach her. We taught about the Plan of Salvation, and she invited us to come back next Saturday. I hope this goes somewhere because it would be awesome to know that tracting has some success!

Saturday we were teaching a man named Z and right when it was. Time for us to leave it started pouring rain. Sister Durfee had parked a block away from his house for some reason I still don't know, so by the time we got to the car we were dripping from head to foot. I don't think I'll ever get used to this humidity / chance of rain. We went home to eat dinner after that and as we were running inside our neighbors yelled "it's just water!" I started to laugh because, yeah it is just water but who wants to be wet? Not me!

I haven't been getting as carsick, but my anxiety in the car has gone up. Sister Durfee isn't always the best about braking far away and I have started to slam my foot down of the ground on the passenger side like mom does. She also ran over a construction cone; heavens knows how she managed to pull that off. I'm not sure at this point if I would trade my semi-carsick but and high blood pressure for the full blown sick to my stomach feeling I had last week, but I'm hoping that this next week will be much better.

Love you all, and thanks for the prayers!

Some good old tracting to start off the week

This picture doesn't give my foot justice on how bruised or swollen it has been

Can you tell that I'm the only morning person?

Having to back cars sucks, especially when it's pouring rain outside
