Hump Day 🐫🐫🐫🐫🐫🐫
This week has been a lot of time in the car with
transfers, meetings
and such, but it has also been great! We started last week by heading
down to Pittsburgh for transfers which occurred Tuesday morning. Part
of the logistics included picking up Elder Bell from Williamsport.
Since he was in a walk area he didn't have a car to drive anywhere and
his companion was staying, so it was just him alone in the car with me
and Sister Durfee. Oh my gosh, it was probably the funniest four hour
car ride of my life! Elder Bell was so high strung, nervous, anxious,
and just freaking out in the back seat the entire time because he was
the only elder there. I probably heard "I haven't been without a
companion for 19 months, this is so weird!" About twenty times. I
didn't think too much of it, and honestly I just sat in the front seat
laughing the whole time at his awkwardness. Now I know the best way to
make a boy missionary uncomfortable is to stick him in a car alone
with two sisters! All in all tint was a very nice road trip and it was
so much fun to drive through the city of Pittsburgh with all the night
lights.

As luck would have it, we had about five hours before transfers where
we were set loose to do whatever we wanted. Sister Durfee and I used
every second of this rare opportunity. We visited people we taught in
Pittsburgh and it was fantastic! The Pittsburgh 4th Ward is now the
only sisters area of Pittsburgh, so I was really lucky to spend seven
and a half months in the coveted city. We ended up seeing P,
M, and the M's. I really miss the city and all the people
there, so it was a nice treat to go and visit for half a day in the
other two areas I served in. We also picked up Sister Kwasney and
O'Reilly for transfers so I got to spend some time with my favorites!
We made a detour and went to the city overlook which was awesome!
Usually missionaries get to go when they first get to Pittsburgh, but
since the group I came here with was too big I didn't get to go. I'm
glad to got the chance to see it!
Sister Thompson is awesome! She has been out about four months more
than me, and is a great missionary. She love to laugh and have a good
time, so we are going to get along just fine :)
This past week we actually had two dinner appointments which is
practically unheard of for this place. I decided that we needed to
take this rare opportunity of being in member's homes and have a legit
dinner thought. Basically, we invited each family to pick a date and
find someone for us to teach in their home before their set deadline.
I have NEVER had the guts to do this before so I was really nervous,
but it went so well! One family set s date, and the other named
someone right off the bat and said they are going to set a time for us
to meet him. That was really cool for me to see, and it goes to show
that the members here really do want to help us, we just have to ask
and give them some encouragement to be missionaries themselves.
The twins passed their baptismal interviews this past week, so the
baptism is good to go, and set for next Friday. I am super excited,
and so is the branch. They are banking on them receiving the Holy
Ghost to help calm down these rambunctious kids haha.
We taught C, a less active, this past week. She was hit by a car a
couple years ago and I honestly don't know how much of her memory is
there. She likes us to sing (why on earth would someone want to hear
me sing? I have no idea) and so as we were singing the song she
started singing along with us. It was such a miracle and cool to see
that she does remember a little bit of the gospel.
We had MLC this past week, and we learned more about the atonement. I
learned that it also covers our carelessness. I never thought about
that before, but I sure am grateful that it is covered because I would
be in some deep doo doo if it wasn't covered.
I also had my hump day on Thursday! I've officially been out nine
months, and only have nine to go. It's so weird because sometimes I
feel like I have been out here forever, and I am never going to be a
normal person again, but at the same time I feel like I got here
yesterday and have no idea what I am doing. Well, here's to nine more
months of being classified as a loud and proud Jesus freak! :)
