Well, I almost passed out during a lesson 😬
This past week we had zone conference. I don't know if I
have already
shared this with you or not, so sorry if I am a broken
record.
Anyways, our mission has been struggling this past few
months with
baptisms. Up until this weekend there hadn't been a single
baptism
since the new year. Yikes. It's not from a lack of effort
from the
missionary's, we just weren't 100 percent focused on the
doctrine of
Christ as we taught, and were slow to invite people to
baptism. In the
words of President Johnson: "Have you ever climbed up a
ladder and was
making good progress and when you got to the top you
realized you were
climbing up the wrong building?" That was basically us,
but we got
some awesome instruction and training so I am refocused and
ready to
be a more effective missionary. We were challenged by the
AP's to find
one person each week and invite them to be baptized. That
was a lot
for them to ask because we have exactly zero people who are
very open
to hearing more about Jesus Christ right now. It's going to
be super
hard, but as we do what we are asked we are going to be
blessed.
We had our first
lesson with B, Sister T's brother this
past week. He has some interesting beliefs to put it
lightly. We
believes in polytheism and how the gods are playing a game
of chess
with us. Pretty similar to what the Greeks and Romans
believed.
Honestly I had no idea people still believed that kind of
stuff. He
also believed that someone had died and was resurrected
before Jesus,
so is Jesus really that special? Well to answer his
question, yes!
Because he is the only one who has died, was resurrected,
and saved
the human race! It was weird trying to teach him, and it
made me
realize how simple and easy our gospel is and that it
doesn't need to
be overly complicated. But the cool thing is we invited him
to be
baptized! He didn't say yes, but he said if he understands
more then
maybe, but hey, that's a start!
We went and visited a less active, Sister P, and her
daughter,
D, who was hit by a car two months ago and barely
lived. She was
in the ICU until this past week, and even though she is home
she still
has a trachea and a halo. I do not do good with those kinds
of things
and after watching / listening to Sister P suck all
the mucus
out of the trachea tube, I knew I was about to pass out. I
felt bad
and didn't want to make a scene so I just asked to use the
bathroom. I
sat in there for a good five minutes and tried my hardest to
not vomit
or pass out. I just sat on the toilet and prayed that I
would make I
through the lesson and be fine. Prayers were answered
because I made
it through the lesson, although I can honestly say that I
have no idea
what we talked about haha.
We've been working with Sister Th for quite some time
cleaning
up her house that was it wont be condemned. This past
weekend we
helped burn a bunch of the brush and wood that was cut down
from her
yard. There was so much which meant we got to spend a lot of
time
playing with fire. I love fire so this was right up my
alley! We even
got to carve some sticks and roast hot dogs and marshmallows
over the
fire. It was quite an adventure because some of her friends
that were
there with us are a little out there so the conversation
that was help
kept you cracking up.
Last week J gave us a ton of yarn and crochet needles so
we could
try and learn, then a lady in our ward showed us how to make
stuff.
During the little free time that we have, we have been
trying to make
scarves. Mine looks like a five year old did it, but slowly
I am
starting to understand how to crochet. I don't know how
people can do
it so fast because at this rate the scarf that I am making
will be
done in the year 2019 haha.
Besides that, nothing too great or exciting has happened. We
are still
trying to find people to teach but that will come over time
with a
little more patience.
Sister Morrison
Last Pday Denisse took us to lunch at this restaurant in
North Park.
We love spending time with her, she is in my top five people
from
Pennsylvania hands down.

We got an air hockey table from a lady in our ward. I am so excited to play
it during lunch each day. Even though out little attic can't fit anything else inside,
we happily made some room for it.
As you all know I love money. Whenever I see coins on the ground
I pick them up. Well, yesterday we hot the jackpot and found about three dollars
worth of coins on the ground! I was so happy! I've collected about twenty dollars
over these past seven months from picking up random coins. It's awesome!
